Q- WOW love your site -- wish I could just hire you!
We have a living room that will be carpet and kitchen/hall that will be laminate -- which should go in first the laminate or the carpet? We will most likely do the laminate install ourselves but not the carpet install ... and then again we might have it installed for us in any case which is best to do first?

A- Its best to install the laminate first. After installing the laminate you will install the transitions. This way the carpet installers can install the carpet up to the transitions. The same would apply for ceramic tile or sheet vinyl.
